Well this is self explanatory im wondering what tips you guys have as to founding places. Also since im wrting might as well ask, to level up do i need to fill all requirementsor just one of them? im guessing i will have to fill out all but no hurt in asking, also is there any flexibility to the requirements? I live in Ontario, and would like to become an urban explorer for thrill, adventure, education, and to meet people. I found this site a few months ago, and just learned about the level feature. I have a few questions on how to level up, and was hoping for some guidance! Firstly, what is considered meaningful content when contributing to places? Second of all, what is the current application fee for level 2? My most pressing questions are about submitting new locations: How should I find new locations? I have a level 3 location that I want to post, but I don't know if it's already been submitted, as I can't see the higher level postings. Finally, does anybody have general tips on urbex? Thank-you for reading all of this, and I will appreciate any answers provided. Have a great day!

Anyone Use Film in Abandoned Places

Mainly I've been shooting on Porta 400 or Superia 400, but has anyone tried out pushing film to get shots in low-light? What kind of film do you guys use and are you happy with the results I just picked up some P3200TMAX BW film which should result in some awesome pictures, but really grainy which I don't like. almost everyone only has an SD card so I might be preaching to the choir here. if you do only have a digital camera, go buy a 35mm film camera and some 800iso film. You can get the ~~worst~~ coolest shots of your life in a new medium for under $50 camera included.

Ahh, well I'm back here reapplying for level 2 again. I am now much more familiar with how things work and I can actually read properly this time lol. Anyways, since I last applied I've got the new location requirement completed and as of today it's been 3 months of me being 'active' as a L1 user (since the actual day I posted my first album). For those who aren't level 4 and cannot see everything I've posted by default, here's a breakdown of my albums, if it helps you in your voting. I have at: **Level 2 Locations**: 6x interiors, 10x exterior only **Level 3 Locations**: 9x interiors, 1x exterior only **Level 4 Locations**: 4x interiors, 1x exterior only Then of course everything else, everyone can see. Open to other comments & suggestions, but this time I at least correctly meet all minimum requirements for L2. Thanks everyone!

I haven't been exploring for as long as other people, but I know the rules and respect them. I've submitted photos for >10 locations, many of which are higher than my current level. While I'm capable of finding new locations (or rediscovering ones that people have already found), I'd like Level 2 access because I prefer to know what kind of hazards I'm dealing with ahead of time. Furthermore, I want to take photos from angles that few people have done (e.g. rooftops with no ladder access). Possible caveat: the "new locations" that I've discovered so far are exterior-only. This is because I couldn't find a POE and/or the security was too tight. I still need more experience in that aspect.

I deserve this so I find more sites, post more pictures, get more followers, and feel like a more important man. Also I Am awesome at urbex. None of the opening sentences is true. I'm none of these things, I do not need level 3, I would like to have level 3 mainly to update and improve the Atlantic Canada section of the database. I’m not going to go into my stats, there right there on the screen, I’ve been to some interesting places and some real garbage holes, made some friends along the way and some memories and that's not going to change with level 3 or 4 or 2. Oh last thing, film photography is great, give it a try, live a little. Thanks, Face_Tinnitus

Hi! I've been interesting in urban exploration for about 6-7 years now. Unfortunately I didn't really do much of anything back when I first got interested, but in the past year or so I've been going to a handful of places. Speaking on the requirements, I've only gotten 2 locations so far. I was hoping I would have a lot more but seems as though a lot of places I end up finding and going into are already on here! Not a bad thing, but I will always continue to be on the lookout and contribute what I can. If this is too much of an issue, then I will keep working towards it and re-apply if necessary. Regarding albums and photo contributions, I believe I've done good. I always take shots of interiors when I can get inside, taking both landscape and portrait shots with a nice, mirrorless Canon R10 that I love to put to use. I believe I deliver quality in my shots. I've got albums from locations of all levels: a 4 (interior & exterior), a couple 3's (1x only exterior, 1x few interior shots & an exterior), a handful of 2's (few exterior only, few both interior & exterior), and a few 1's (1 interior only, a couple both interior & exterior). As mentioned, a few of these albums are only exteriors, but this is because one day I went around looking for as many buildings as I could and added what pictures I could get (which were only exteriors at the time, no PoE's found) just in case any of them were new locations. Low and behold, there was a new location! That being said, I believe it can be helpful at times to have some updated exterior shots if there hasn't been an recent album / view of the outside; for other potential explorers on the site, in case there were any major PoE / barricade changes. I have talked to a handful of yous in Discord, and will continue to try and include myself more and more. I've really enjoyed both uploading and seeing other photos of locations on this site and I'm happy to finally be able to contribute and really act on these places and see them for myself. I would love to get elected to level 2, hopefully there are others that agree. That being said, constructive criticism is always welcome too. Thank you and happy exploring!

I understand my locations are a bit under, I don't quite have 40 albums, but I have submitted almost close to the 20 location requirement. But I feel like the rest of the things I do will make that kind of OK. I provide detailed hazards information on all locations I create, same with history. I do lots of research and even combine information other people have added to make sure locations have lots of info attached. Not only with locations I make - If I come across a location that I am able to edit I will edit it accordingly with accurate and up-to-date high quality detailed information. Some examples are location 17433 and 17152. Both of these locations had very little information attached to their OAP pages, and I took edited them to provide high quality details. I had dug up a very huge chunk of history for location 17152 that was not known by barely anyone else. I never take a "Bad" photo, I use a GoPro Hero 10 Black capable of vibrant photos and extremely high quality (almost 8K.) I keep it on a tri-pod and set a high shutter time to create stunning photos even in the darkest rooms. Level 3 would help me largely in finding new locations. I hear everyone say in their promotions that (x) level would help them find new locations to photograph, but I actually did it with my Level 2. Alongside locations I've created, I've used OAP to find many other locations. I've taken full advantage of my ability by adding new albums on locations that were very outdated. I kind of live in the middle of nowhere, so many of the locations in my area are very old and have incorrect information such as still saying abandoned when It's been demolished. I comment on all of these locations I see to make sure the next person doesn't have to find out the hard way like I did. I have never vandalized anything, I am probably one of the youngest users on this site so I usually explore with my parents/grandparents, who would both kill me if they saw me do such a thing. (of course I wouldn't vandalize if I was alone or not). A lot of places in my area are sealed tight securely which is why I have so many exteriors only. However when an entrance is found I make sure to explore and photograph everything no matter the size of the building, to provide no mystery to the viewer. Location 17152 had only a few albums with interiors and they all barely posted them, I was the first photographer to go in here and show off everything. I'm not only known here on OAP, I also have an Instagram with a whopping 20 followers and a website (decaydiver.ca) I hope to become bigger and more well known like RiddimRyder and NoahNowhere (my inspiration). I'm still a bit under so I understand if I get denied (I wouldn't be surprised). However I feel like the other aspects of my account will kinda make up for it. Have a good day and thanks for reading. TL;DR: Despite not meeting the album count requirement, I contribute detailed hazard and historical information to locations, edit existing entries for accuracy, and ensure high-quality photography. My Level 2 access has enabled me to find and document numerous locations effectively. Living in a rural area, I rectify outdated or incorrect information on abandoned sites. I explore with my family, never engage in vandalism, and thoroughly document locations even when restricted to exteriors. While my Instagram and website are small, I aspire to grow my presence. Though I may fall short on album count, I believe my contributions compensate for it.

i've had success by meeting people in bushes at level 1 crack houses then having them take me to other places that arent listed on here. in other words, networking is a big part of this.

UPDATE-29 MARCH 2023- The owner is still Chris, however 2021 he was land locked by the railway company that has the tracks you would cross to access the prison in the past. They basically told him if anybody was caught crossing the tracks or on the property he would be fined as well as the trespassers arrested. Unless, he paid to have a road built trees cleared etc to avoid crossing the tracks. As of this year he did exactly that. I currently work with him. For further explanation contact him. February 2023: We have a hunt camp in Nemegos. We are the first camp on the right after you cross the bridge and before you cross the tracks. Our buildings are red with green roofs. We spend a lot of time up there from April to mid November. My husband Bill just got back from a 2 week stay. Even though it is February, he was able to drive in from the south end of the Nemegos Road off Hwy 667. The road is not always open, but this year the logging company that logged 2 years ago, has opened up the road to get their wood out. Some years the CPR plows it, but not every year.The north end of Nemegos Road that goes to Hwy 101 is not open this winter. For the record, there are 5 permanent residents in Nemegos as of this date. They are Gary & Janet Sneider, John Stevens (Janet's brother) and brothers Larry and George Koski. Levis Andelin was a permanent resident up until a few years back. He spends the winters in Chapleau and summers in Nemegos. There are many part time residents in the spring, summer and fall months such as ourselves Bill & Jan Hilliard. We hail from North Bay area. Other camp owners are from Chapleau, Sault Ste. Marie, ON., Ottawa, ON, several from Michigan USA, New York USA. Everyone is off-grid. Most folks use a combination of generators & solar power. The CPR operates the Budd Car from Sudbury to White River on a regular schedule. Nemegos is a flagstop. It drops us right at our door. How cool is that! Drop in anytime. We'd be glad to see you!

I went into this area recently to find it, couldn't find it. I had the drone out looking for the tower and hiked some of the logging roads in the vicinity, but alas my efforts did not bring up any results. Is the tower near the posted coordinates? Or is located far away from the posted coordinates? Based on my visit it's possible that the MNR demolished it.

My question is how did this even get here if the entire place has been gated for years. I was here in January and saw this (it wasn't here in May 2023) and it looks like it was burnt and on top of that I've no idea how it got in here I didn't see any gates that were destroyed or taken down... same with those motorcycles
