Introduction!
HavenTheRaccoon • 4 weeks ago
Just thought I'd introduce myself to the community! I'm an analogue horror and urbex enthusiast, I have an older Palmcorder which I like to take to the spookier places around St. Thomas, but once I get my full license hopefully in December I'd like to check out and film some more locations maybe in London or other places around me. I'll be popping by the discord server as well, so if you spot me I'm free to chat about obsolete tech or the like! I do just have one question though I wasn't able to find an answer to in the FAQ, how long until I'm able to add a location or album? One of the requirements for level 2 is by contributing via making an album or such, and I wanted to work my way towards that.
Silo postings?
nurbexo • 2 months ago
I wanted to make this thread to understand what people think about the posting of a sole silo. I personally find them interesting, despite them essentially just being a large cylindrical concrete object, and so have been to a few with intentions to visit more. Some of them are climbable and are therefore more interesting, with the main aspect of the post being focused more of the views and such offered rather than the silo itself sometimes. They are abandoned, though I wanted to check whether this is considered "filler" by the majority of people.
Goodbye OAP

I stumbled across such an interesting abandoned place today, it was such a beautiful find. When I got home I decided to look into it and I came to OAP like I have for many years and I get asked for money to be able to find out about this place. Are you kidding me? I have since deleted all of my content from here that I possibly could. It was sad doing it but so nice going through so many great memories of so many beautiful places. Some that were suggested to me from Rick Cooper when he and his wife would see places in my area as they were passing along in their boat and would message me so enthusiastically that I just had to go check these places out. Of course I always would. Which contributed to many locations on this site from the beginning of it all. I remember so many ups and downs through the years and many many great people who I have met along the way. To be asked for money to have full access to this site after all this time and contribution is so insulting. I am saying goodbye and enjoy the last 19 locations I wasn't able to erase. Explore safely and responsibly friends xo -itsme

Hello OAP staff and community. I am writing this to ask for a promotion to Level 2 on the site. I have been contibuting to this site for over 3 years, with 3 newly added locations and nearly 20 albums, interior and exterior. Ever since I found this site mid 2021 I've been obsessed with scrolling through abandoned places and finding out their histories and hazards. I decided to make an account so I could share my own unique expirences with other urban explorers, maybe even exchange some stories with them. I was not dissapointed, after I started posting albums I found myself out of new exciting places to explore. So I searched far and wide, using google maps, asking people in the community, checking other sites, etc. I finally found some, and decided to share with the OAP community. I've tried adding several new locations to the site, only to find out that it is a level 2/3 location that was not visible to me before due to my low level. Which is part of the reason I would like this promotion, to discover more new exciting locations to document and to strengthen my connection to this site. I feel this promotion is well-deserved after my years of commitment to this community, and I hope you guys do too. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Dear Admin Team and Community Members, I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to request reconsideration for my promotion to Level 2 within our community. Since my previous application, I have continued to actively contribute by adding five new locations, all accompanied by photos to enhance our database. In total, I have made meaningful contributions across 16 places, focusing on quality and accuracy. With my 6+ months of active participation in the forum, I believe I have demonstrated my commitment to our community. I am eager to take on more responsibility and contribute even further at a higher level. I appreciate your consideration of my request and look forward to your feedback. Thank you for your time!

Before being introduced to OAP by an Ontario friend, I was only exploring for the thrill of the adventure and internal thoughts of "What could have happened here?". But after joining the community and looking at the albums I was able to view, I started changing up my photography aspect of exploring as you'll notice when comparing my early albums to more recent ones. Still have a lot of improving to do though, especially when it comes to more dilapidated locations so I'm open to any constructive criticism! Tried keeping this one short since I'll get into my life story with urbex when the time comes but for now i'm hoping my contributions can speak for me. Thanks for your time:)

I’ve been actively contributing to OAP with 22 albums and 15 locations, focusing on quality over quantity. While I do share exteriors, I only post them if I feel they’re genuinely worth it, easy to explore, or particularly cool. Typically, I remove exterior shots on existing locations unless I believe they add value, and I compensate for them with detailed descriptions. Recently, my photo quality, descriptions, and overall contributions have significantly improved as I’ve been more focused on delivering quality content. My end goal is to make as many contributions to the site as I can and hopefully I'll get to at least level 3. Thanks for reading my paragraph

Hey everyone, I have been interested in urban exploration for a while now and have been to many interesting places by myself and with trusted friends. We are always respectful of the places and make sure to leave everything how it was when we got there. I believe that this community would benefit from me being promoted to level 2, as it would allow me to find more places and make more meaningful contributions to the website. **My contributions:** 3 New locations, 11 Albums 2 level 3 locations, 8 level 2 locations, and 1 level 1 location I have also been an active member since the start of April and plan to continue posting more locations and albums, and engaging with the community. --- Thank you for your consideration.

thank you man, i appreciate it. i’ll definitely get on that.
Try to get more interior pics. The site also likes new locations more then people who tour others added locations Im gonna vote yes because you have been here a couple years now but we wanna see you grow more into the hobby ( more interior and more personal locations) Keep on exploring!

Locations are beautiful, captured in a stunning manor. Some of the most unique finds I've seen on and off OAP. Comparing photos from 2 months ago to the most recent album is an impressive improvement. Keep it up!

Passed by and both houses are demolished
begottenconch • 2 days ago
Oh damn, well i don't remember there being anything. Obviously the overgrown lot is still there with the billboards, which are not that hard to climb but I would not do it in the day time if I were you, since its at a pretty busy intersection.
DAExplores • 3 days ago
looking on streetview there was a small used car shack a few years back
the cars were all gone long before it became abandoned, and there was never an actual dealership building. The building behind it on Dundas St might be abandoned, but it may also be some type of housing now, it’s hard to tell. I mainly added this just for the spot, as I mentioned there are some climbable billboards that give you a decent view of the neighbourhood. I apologize if you don’t find this location very interesting, but never really was a ton here anyway lol
this would have been better for you to add when it still had a used car dealership or even had some cars left when it was abandoned, as I don't think an empty lot fits too well.

How did you get in there, i've been here for years.
Yeah, i think they’re doing construction on it or something. When I went there was a bulldozer parked out front, but if it’s still there it should be just past the bulldozer on the right.
