Do you prefer to explore during the Summer or Winter?
dissatisfaction • 1 month ago
Both have their perks for identifying bandos, such as overgrown plants in the summer or stagnant snow in the winter. Or the downsides.. like ticks and hazardous plants in the summer, or having to cross knee deep snow in the winter. Personally, I've explored more during the winter so maybe that's why I prefer the latter. It's reassuring knowing there haven't been any footsteps around the area for days, or even weeks. But I will say that wet shoes from the snow are annoying, so bringing something waterproof is recommended
Already existing locations you cant see
Orellana • 1 month ago
I'm working on earning my level 2, so I've been working on finding a bunch of new locations, and it just got me wondering, what if someone has already posted a location but it's at a level i cant see, is there just a decent chance that there are duplicate locations out there? Or is there a mechanism stopping people from posting duplicate locations? I've been getting server errors on my latest discovery so i'm wondering if that's what's going on or if there's just an outage or something.
Behnke off Hwy 63 ( Trout Lake Road)
Noodles25 • 2 months ago
There is apparently an abandoned town called/in Behnke, Ontario. If travelling along Hwy 63 (Trout Lake Road) heading towards Quebec from North Bay, just pass Hwy 533, there is a green sign that says Behnke 26(?) khms The story goes that this use to be a booming town but some “tragic“ event occurred and the entire town moved away. The road into Behnke looks like a cow path but we are going to head in there next Sunday with our ATVs. Does anyone know anything about Behnke, the history etc?
Requesting for Level 2
DecayDiver • 1 week ago
I have always loved the art of urban exploration. I just recently started doing it a few months ago. I photograph all my visits and put them on here, and I have created almost a dozen new locations in my area. I would love to be Level 2 so I can discover more interesting locations that aren't level 1. This would be great for me because Ominous is the only way I can find new locations besides, well, seeing one in real life. I really hope you take this into consideration, Thank you!
While I have only become active relatively recently in the community, I've been involved in Urban exploration for about 5 years. Originally, it started out with just exploring storm drains in middle school. It all shifted when my dad introduced me to a sight his friend who went my ninjalicious used to run called infiltration. From there I got the urbex itch. I've been properly exploring with my group of friends for around two and a half years now. I try to scout out new locations when I can and when I do visit locations I try to take as many high quality photographs as possible with my pixel 7. I also enjoy creating writeups on the locations I visit, researching the history behind them. I hope that if my level 2 application is successful, I can continue to contribute to this site and the urbex community as a whole.

Requesting for Level 3
urbexxanonymous • 1 month ago
Attempting this again as I misread the requirements the first time. I absolutely love this hobby! I have been a member here for a few years now and would appreciate a promotion to level 3. I will admit that I am terrible at writing descriptions and history on locations, but I more so enjoy the photography aspect of the hobby. Lately I have been trying to take a break from the mainstream “must-see” locations, and focusing on finding new locations instead. I have tons of pins on my Google maps that I yet to even make a dent in, but look forward to sharing them with the community as I work my way though them! Thank you! 🙂 \-urbexxanonymous
Hello, I'm applying for my level 2 now, because I want to keep contributing pics and locations, and with level 2, I hope to gain access to more locations and hopefully update as many outdated posts in my area as I can. I've pretty much overkilled all the requirements except for the 3 months, which I've passed today. I have always been exploring stuff all around my house, I grew up having a barn close to my house and my brother and I always hung out in it. I eventually started biking in the woods, found some more barns and sheds out there. Ever since I've been looking for more urbex spots in my area, binge searching Google Earth. When I found this website I didnt see much in my area, so I figured I'd try to fill in, hopefully going to become a sort of “local knowledge” for urbex spots around Shediac. Additionally i recently got myself a little DJI drone so I hope to take some sick arial shots of stuff. As far as I can tell there's little content in Shediac, and even Moncton seems pretty empty at my level, I'm gonna fix that.

or, even better than that, go outside and use your eyes! plenty of stuff on the website that you can't see yet due to being level 1, but I can guarantee you can see it with your eyes if you go outside
I have great news for you, you're on the perfect website to find something like that. now go look through the database! have fun!

big fan of the shoulder seasons, less bugs, don't have to worry about getting stuck in the snow, down side would be less day light

Definitely a level 2 or level three

Has my vote!
Meets requirements, lots of high level locations. Good photos.

RE: "I have to say the Adding Locations requirement is a little ridiculous because it will be very hard to find locations that no one else has" -- definitely not true, and that sentiment has usually been a sign in the past of users not really invested in the hobby. There are abandoned locations everywhere and new ones pop up constantly in every locality. This is going to sound like a sarcastic comment, but it isn't in any way. Another easy suggestion is to consider known historic spots in your area. Chances are many of those are not listed in the database because people have just never thought to put them in. But there's certainly nothing wrong with photographing and sticking them in the database at Level 1 for others to enjoy.
though the minimum requirements are not 100% strict requirements, but they are very strong criteria. you could have 2 locations but 20 albums, i would vote yes for that

I absolutely love that you have this up. I've been going to this place since I was a kid.

Wow, that's wild! Would be soooo cool if they would let you explore it... but I doubt it.
