Arson House in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada

Recent status Arson
Location # 898

Just a secluded house that will probably be destroyed to feed Vaughan(a)s urban sprawl. Complete with a private pond and dock (there are Koi fish in the pond)

From 2CrwnTh3mWithHal0s: I honestly got no idea what happened here other than the fact that it burned down sometime in history. Whether that be within the past decade or the preceding one, we will never know unless detailed forensic analysis of the burned material is conducted.

Normally this location can be accessed via the trails enterable in the north of North Maple Regional Park. Unfortunately, due to construction that is not set to be complete until the Autumn of 2023, all “conventional” means of accessing these vast trails have been closed down. Thankfully, the entrance used to get to this specific location just so happens to be a sort of secret entrance to the closed trails.

The trail entrance is located in an empty lot located within an “upper-middle class” looking neighborhood.

[UPDATE 3/3/2023 (2CrwnTh3mWithHal0s):

I just returned to this site last Friday, in the winter as I previously promised. Coming here again I discovered something that I hadn’t seen before; Another cabin located maybe 10 meters away from the burned foundations at the bottom of the hill. I must’ve not seen it the other 4 times I’ve visited, most likely due to thick vegetation in the area commonly seen in the warmer months.

Anyways, discovering this little shed/cabin has left me with theories about what exactly this place could’ve been in the past. Around the little shed are various construction materials thrown around, hinting that whoever was building this place never completed their project. Throughout the entire site, no tools or “human objects” can be found. Only construction materials, like pieces of wood and metal. Additionally, amongst the charred objects found in the ruins, I have found little trace of any furniture or any items that a home would normally have. All of these details lead me to believe or at least propose the idea that this location was never inhabited at all. I think this might have been some place that was under construction but was abandoned at some point and eventually burned down either due to natural forces, or arson. This seems to make sense to me as the surrounding buildings seem to be relatively newly built, so would it not make sense for someone to let the contractor’s buy their land and in the process, leave behind an old project that they were working on?

Idk if this is too long for a location description but I think it helps broaden the perspective on the mysterious history of this place. ]

Nice maple. I parked right beside that sign last time, somehow failed to see it was actually for the property as a whole. Some rich bastards gonna get lucky with that purchase...

To bad about the fire, I found this place back in 07 when exploring the foundations that used to be up at the front of the property near the road. It was in decent shape at that point with only minor drywall damage. I thought about having a nap in that little cubby hole, nook kinda thing that was in what i think was the bedroom. I recall how pristine and clear the pond was.

Oh, the koi are still alive, and plenty of them too. Guess they get enough to survive and thrive.
