The Anne Heggtveit Ski Hill, now known as Carlington Hill sits right behind the Carlington Hights Reservoir near a bike path. It was originally named after Anne Heggtveit, an Ottawa downhill skier who won a gold medal in 1960. Currently it is an approved sledding hill during the winter but there's still remnants of the old ski lift decaying with several interesting maintenance hatches which have been welded shut. The reservoir it's self has a cool little history with the city having once attempted to make it the Memorial Reservoir as well as giving it a commemorative sundial and plaques which have since been mysteriously removed as the reservoir gained an ill repute for being a drug haven. It's a neat place to check out if you're on the bike path for sure. Watch out for needles and such.

The reservoir cannot be entered through any of the hatches or sewer grates above as they've been locked, welded, or filled in. What's also interesting is right next to the site is a huge cliff, you can get to it easily and admire the nice view from the top, in fac

Presumably the cliff was a quarry but it's now a snow dump.
