While out off-roading with some friends the other day, we decided to take one of the many trails behind Capreol. This particular one was just before Milnet, it(a)s quite easy to find, just look for 4 huge marble stones standing at the entrance to the trail... which is a snowmobile trail, but wide enough for an ATV or truck.

After a fun drive in the bush, we came across this old marble quarry! It(a)s actually pretty cool to see these huge marble slabs measuring anything from 4-6 feet wide and approx 6-10 feet tall, almost all cut straight and smooth! It(a)s not an amazing site to see, but quite cool I must admit! After a bit of exploring we found the remnants of an old building which has a stove (looks old, but then again someone might have dragged it out there either for fun or to get rid of it), a sink and an tub (see pictures).

You can reach the Marble Quarry with either an ATV, 4x4, snowmobile, a car you don(a)t really care for (cause it might get stuck), or you can walk it (approx 7-8Km both ways!).

I do not know the history of this place (tried Google(a)in it but came up with nothing, just other people who have gone), but if anyone knows anything, please let me know, it(a)d be interesting to find out!

I knew a guy from the KW area who owned a marble quarry in this area. In fact he gave me a big piece to sculpt. It's a nice white piece. But I'm guessing there are a number of marble quarries in the Sudbury area.
