Gas Station on Montreal

This is a couple of pictures that I had gone and taken before moving away from Kingston. When I was last there I saw that this property has now been fully demolished, gas pumps and all. Its kind of sad to see it go but will be nice to see something else possibly go in its place? Its a busy street that does not look very nice at all. There have been a couple of articles that I have read over the years about the number of abandoned buildings along the street. Three that I know of have now been demolished.

This gas station has been here for a number of years. I'm not quite sure of the year that it was built or was opened but I am guessing by doing a quick Google search of gas prices in Ontario over past years it closed in the end of 1998. This site had 3 gas pumps and a main building. It was located on apx an acre of land on the East side of Montreal St in Kingston and was privately owned but years in tax arrears. At least one gas pump was still sitting at 53.7 cents a litre. I can only dream of gas prices that low :(
