The inside was very charred so the building is potentially unstable with respect to the floors. There are hypodermic needles, broken glass, and other sharp pieces of wood and junk everywhere in this place so be mindful of that. This location is a very popular place for squatters and the homeless to congregate, I learned this firsthand when I was inside and heard two people moving around and talking upstairs.
“Ginos Spaghetti and Pizza” unlike Gino’s pizza is a local popular pizza chain in Kingston Ontario. This was one of their many locations in Kingston and the surrounding area. Based on google street view this location operated from 2009 up until June 2015. Then between June 2015 and June 2016, this location was closed and subsequently left the whole building abandoned. There was a development notice in front of the location so I believe that this location was owned by a development firm that was waiting for permits from the city to demolish and build on the property. However, they will not need to demolish this location anymore since at 9:30 PM on December 6th a fire was reported to have erupted in this building. The firefighters responded quickly to the scene and managed to extinguish the fire at 1:30 AM. Not much of the location was left only the front pizzeria portion was left standing but charred. The building experienced significant damage. Then over the next few days, both abandoned buildings were demolished and cleared. The location now sits as an empty lot.
I was on a nightly walk around 2 in the morning, I had noticed this place a few times during the day. But for some reason, I was feeling ballsy so I decided to check this place out. Did a perimeter found the backdoor broken in and decided to enter. Explored the basement, pretty typical except for a few stolen desks, seats, and assorted junk. Went upstairs to the main floor and explored the apartments on this floor and the old pizzeria and kitchen. Nothing crazy. I went upstairs to the second floor and found it had been burned as everything was charred, with a few assorted things left by squatters. Then I heard movement and talking upstairs from who I assume to be squatters or homeless. They were saying “did you hear that, I think there is someone in the house”. The last thing I want is to encounter two homeless people by myself in an abandoned house at 2 am. So I didn’t get to explore the top floor and I left. I went outside to the front of the location to find two cop cars parked right outside the place. They asked me what I was doing and just told them I was taking a shortcut to my house, they believed me and let me go. Then 3 days later this place ends up burning down due to a fire. My money is that those squatters upstairs accidentally started it and ran before it got out of control. The whole place is burned down now alongside the place beside it. Glad I got these pictures while I had a chance!
