Not really any active hazards as there shouldnt be any attempts to access this unless it is open.
Free admission to the gallery with a donation appreciated and encouraged. I forget what we dropped in. Staff mostly speaks French from what we encountered but the lady at the front door spoke English. My mom speaks French fluently but the “Hazard” LOL, comes if you don't speak French. “Le photo?” May get you somewhere if you are like me and not with a French speaker.
History of Manoir De Tonnancou
“The Tonnancour manor, listed in 1966, is a vast urban bourgeois residence erected between 1795 and 1797, from an older residence partially destroyed by fire. The three-storey rectangular stone building has a mansard roof and has three high chimney stacks, one of which is double. The designation also applies to the land. The Tonnancour manor is located in an urban environment, in the heart of the historic district of Trois-Rivières. An archaeological site is associated with the place.”
The name of my album is a reference to the name that Trois Rivieres used to have, New France. Similar to how Kitchener, ON used to be called Berlin. There is a lot of interesting things to learn about the times back then in New France. Let me tell you, the fires were the stuff of legend and nightmares.
So there my Mom and I were. Looking for a museum or something to check out in the “Old Village” of Trois Rivieres and for some reason my bad luck followed me to Quebec as well. The things that looked interesting were not open. And then the rain started. My energy and mood went downhill. How hard could it be to find a place to go to?
This ran thru my head as we walked in the rain and I protected my camera in my hoodie. Up from the waterfront we walk and then my Mom just realigns where she is headed to and I see it… An open door. On a nice lookin place. So we escape the rain and head into Galerie D’art Du Parc. It is a rotating art gallery with quite abstract art scattered throughout it. This is possibly one of the best repurposing jobs I have ever seen as not really much was changed on the interior, if anything.
In the end I told my Mom that it was a nice find and she looks at me and tells me she just happened to pull a page from my ‘‘Book”. She saw an open door….And open doors are ALWAYS inviting. If I make it back or another gets to see the place, it will almost always be different as the art rotates.
