Hazards of Big Creek Canadian National Railway Trestle

Rotten wood.

History of Big Creek Canadian National Railway Trestle

This trestle was built in 1903 by the Dominion Bridge Co. Ltd. Spanning just over 1000 feet at 1,057ft.

The railway is now abandoned and sadly so is the bridge. Some ties are missing on the bridge and it was actually the main reason this section of the railway was abandoned due to it needing roughly $500,000 in repairs. Below the trestle is a whole other world, you can tell this has been a very popular area with the locals over the years, numerous items... shopping carts, tvs, furniture, etc litter the ground. If you do attempt to cross this thing. DO NOT walk on the side boards as they are very unsafe and only holding on by a thread. Watch for rotten railway ties as well as I ran into a few on my way across. Setting this as Level 2 instead of public for safety reasons.
