Unhospitable Hotel

Demolished Motel/Hotel in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada

Recent status Demolished
Location # 17094

Opened in the 1970's as a Holiday Inn, the street even named after it - the franchised location was sold to Sunbridge in the early 2010's. This location closed in 2019 for 'renovations', asbestos abatement began immediately - covering the majority of the hotel.
A plan to add almost 100 new rooms to the hotel quickly fell apart as Covid19 decimated the hospitality industry.

The construction has stalled for months now, and squatters are beginning to take residence inside.

JULY 2021 - A piece of equipment was on site and had started to tear the front down. Security is on site now all the time. I heard (ishootthings) that this is now a demolition but I havent really heard any official confirmation on that front YET. I would not be surprised in the least.

Drove past this today, only a small portion of the hotel remains, along with the porte cochere.

Most things are stripped too, HVAC units on the roof, much of the copper as well. But a fair amount is still there. Scrappers have hit and are/will continue to.
