Bornish Scottish Cairn

An interesting cairn to visit - it's a bit different than many I've seen. It's on top of a small rise above the road, with metal steps leading up to it.

I found this description for the burial site: "In February 1850, the first death in the new community of Bornish occurred. At the age of 42, Mrs. Catherine MacDonald, wife of Lachlan MacDonald and mother of eight children aged two to 17, succumbed to the hardships of the past year. As it was mid-winter and the nearest Catholic cemetery was several miles away in Adelaide village, a burial ground was established nearby on the crest of this hill, and she was buried there"
