On the way to an explore up north, we spotted a complex of a house and several barns on a hill. We pledged to inspect it on our way back. As we were heading back home, our remaining hours of daylight began to dwindle. This became about more than just a house. It was us against them. A race against sunset. Oh yes, it was a race against time itself.

We won.

As we pulled into the driveway, it was dark, and gloomy. Hail was pummelling our faces as we ran up the snow-covered driveway. As we ran forward and upward with only our cameras and our dreams, we felt the resistance of 10,000 snowballs, but still, we persisted.

What awaited us at the top of this hill on which we might well have died was...well, a house. A nice enough house from the outside, though not abandoned for too long given that printer/scanner and DVD left on the floor of the living room. Behind the house was an outdoor pool and attached poolhouse. Further back on the property were several other barns that we did not get the chance to explore, noting that a truck had decided to meet our car at the base of the driveway.

Not to worry, our welcome committee was the farmer whose brother-in-law owned the property we were exploring. He seemed more impressed that we braved the hailstorm than he did perturbed at our uninvited visit.

Would like to return--in warmer weather--to check out the rear farming buildings.

Thanks! A bit anti-climactic, but still good that we got to see it.
