This was an old pioneer home located in Forbes Township. There is no road access to this property. The building itself was very basic, about 25 feet long, with the walls of the front part of the structure having withstood the elements while the rear of the building has collapsed completely. The front part of the building was approximately 12x12. It was constructed from hewn logs using dovetail cornering common in NWO pioneer homes of the 19th and early 20th century. Wooden wedges were used to fill the gaps between the logs of this building. I think the metal sign hanging from the outer wall may have said "Harry".
Any personal items have rotted away long ago. There was no plastic whatsoever, and not much junk lying around. This and the lack of road access to the property lead me to believe that this place has been abandoned 50+ years. Could be much longer.
I am always amazed at the structural strength of some of these old pioneer log homes. Perhaps it is the ingenuity and skilled craftsmanship, or the fortitude and grit that it would take to carve out an existence in a harsh northern climate that amazes me most.

That's an oldie. Definitely hasn't had occupants in many many decades...
