Felt Like A Fifth Wheel

This is The Fifth Wheel Truck Stop just east of London Ontario. When driving by there I noticed it had recently been boarded up. There appeared to be a car in front, whether that was some form of security or just some curious driver is anybody's guess. On my return trip I decided to make a quick stop, my time was limited & the sun would start to set soon. There were tire marks up to the front but no sign of any foot prints, so I made my own.

Apparently the hotel portion has been closed awaiting renovations & then in August the store & restaurant portions were closed. Gas sales were ongoing but ceased on Wed the 18th of December & the property was sold as of Thursday the 19th. It looks like they started to take down signs almost immediately & boarded the place up. So after over 30 years at this location, the Fifth Wheel must have started to feel like a fifth wheel on the Windsor to Toronto 401 corridor.

The property is very large & the sale, so far, is remaining confidential but I doubt any of the existing structures will remain.
