Approximately 40 kilometers South of Highway 17 down Brent Rd., you will find the Brent camping area on Cedar Lake in Algonquin Park. Other than the outfitter store and some ranger cabins, there is an old boarded up hotel. The building just sits there while grass grows wildly all around it. It's not hidden however it seems to be ignored entirely. While I was there, I didn't see anyone near it or paying any attention to it all. All windows and doors are boarded up. I don't have any story on why it was built but I suspect that it had something to do with logging in the area as well as an old CN Rail line that runs through the area.

Clay I've added a few links to the outfitters site which detail some history of the location. Brent has some fascinating attractions, including a cemetery of 9 lumberman who drowned on route to a lumber camp, a Fire Tower along the trail, and a 2.9 km diam. 1400 ft deep meteorite crater (now filled by 2 lakes).
I agree, this is amazing. I might be mistaken but I don't think I've ever heard anyone talk about this location, even in the books and historical documents that are available. And they really do seem to openly mention everything else.

Hi there, this building was the CNR Bunkhouse in Brent. My mom worked there for a number of years! It was owned by a company called Hallmark which managed Bunkhouses for CNR. The rail line used to run immediately in front of the building, and the back faces onto the water. This building was closed around 1995 when the CNR left. I have some old pictures of when it was open that I will upload soon!
