Image back to the time when this country was settled by means of the Colonization Roads. Here, near the north end of the Nipissing Colonization Road, lie the remains of the Barber family, who came to clear this land and make a better life for their future generations. Pioneers in the truest sense, they toiled long days and harsh climates, fighting bugs and beasts, swamp and forests, the heat of summer and cold cold winters that none of us can appreciate. Life was tough and so were the pioneers who came here.
Those who did not make it are now buried here in this tiny plot of land on a very obscure backroad. The lives of the children were short lived, and the adults did not fare much better. The story of this pioneer family is kept partially alive by this sacred piece of land, the only land in the immediate area that remains cleared to this day.

Great find and a bang-on description the family would be proud of.
