Some pioneers lay here from the Nipissing Colonization Road. Stunning arch nameplate. That red moss grows great here and the bugs were super ridiculous, this time of year. Just outside of Midlothian on the way to Spence.

Midlothian retains it's name as it was a postal stop. The post office was in my Grandaprents Far at the intersection of Midlothian Rd and Staratt Rd. The land has been in our family since the 1870s. I still have the postal sorting desk from the farm. Never a large community the postal stop was the gathering and delivery point for mail. Serving about 50 families in the immediate surrounding few km.

I don't think it's lichen....I'd say VaMpYrE.

I am of the mind that it's lichen, not moss.

@ground state, I know, I just learned about those places recently myself , lol. those are pretty old names of towns and some are just an intersection now. Magnetawan is one of the few that survived in this area. I believe that moss is only found in Ontario.

Sad that I read your description and do not even recognize geographical names from my own province! A definite unique Mobileworks cemetery entry with all the colourful moss growing on the headstones.
