On the top of the Nor'westers in dense bush is the remains of an old small airplane that crashed on the mountain. I found this wreck accidentally while wandering through the bush. The wreck is not on a trail and can be difficult to find, especially in the summer. Pieces of the old plane are scattered a good distance across the southwest lobe of the mountain. With some difficulty I have been able to track down some information about the wreck.

The plane was a Grummon Widgeon that went down in the late 1950's or early 1960's. The pilot took off in bad weather. No one died in the crash except for a pet dog.

I have plotted the spot on the map where the larger parts of the plane wreck are located. Other pieces of the plane are can be found for quite a distance

Thanks everyone for your comments! The little dog is mine, he's not a rat or a ghost :)

Awesome stuff GEM1982... for your first two locations on here, both this and the ghost town post were kick butt! Love the shot of the metal siding on the plane entangled in the tree.

Neat, I don't know if I could find it, but I have maps of every "known" plane crash up until 1990 in Ontario, Quebec & a good portion of the Arctic.

this is awesome i'm going to have to take a look at this. I've hiked all over the place on this mountain, really wish I would have found it myself, but, you can't win 'em all i guess.
