MacRae Farm

Demolished House in Ramara, Ontario, Canada

Location # 5108

This abandoned farm is located not far from Lagoon City on Lake Simcoe. According to the Canadian County Atlases of 1877, the property belonged to F. MacRae. MacRae had emigrated from Scotland and settled here on lot 14 of the 3rd concession to farm.

The house and outbuildings have been abandoned, though the land is still being farmed. No doubt the property owner is renting the land to a nearby farmer, intending to eventually build cottages or a luxury condo community as you would find in nearby Lagoon City. :(

Old house has been demolished and replaced with a newer and larger model.

The house was abandoned 3-4 years ago, due to an infestation of bats. Inside would have to be completely gutted and re-done, so the owners moved across the road and still farm the land, leaving the house to die a slow death.

Were you going south? I think the north side is blocked by trees ... that may be why ...

Huh, for a second there I thought #10 was a hangman's noose inside the barn!
