Demolished House in Oakville, Ontario, Canada

A lovely old farmhouse with several out buildings on Bronte Road.

The charm of this home is the staircase, they have preserved some walls inside but the staircase seems to be what they have left as is. There is a crawlspace basement and a cool attic/upstairs that smells like (and sounds like) Raccoon.

The exterior is beautiful, red brick, decorative wooden fixtures and original trees in the front that are being protected.

The home is known as "Oakhurst" or the "Inglehart Home", it was previously inhabited by William Cyrus Inglehart and family. William Inglehart was born in 1823 and died in 1917

08 Oct 2015

Fire (most likely arson) engulfed the home on the 27th of September & destroyed the roof. They would try to determine the cause & stabilty of the home in the following week. I drove by today & the home is gone.

Looks like destroying the home wasn't enough. I couldn't get close enough with the roads blocked, but from where the smoke is, it looks like the barn is on fire right now.

Arseholes. House was on fire yesterday, no explanation yet, but I assume arson. I haven't been by there yet but I've been told the roof is destroyed, not sure how well the structure has held up or if it's salvageable, but it is still standing. http://www.thespec.com/news-story/5933547-century-old-home-goes-up-in-flames-on-bronte-road-in-oakville/

There is a POE at the front of the house beside the main door, all the other windows are boarded so its quite dark and scary inside. Also rats have set up camp in the attic and there are mountains of poo all over

All sealed up again.

The back door was wide open when I went. Unfortunately everything else is boarded up so it was so dark and musty inside.

My guess is that this will become a Provincial Park House much like the Spruce Lane Farm House on the other side of the Creek. Heavy landscaping & what looks like a berm being made. Maybe to separate the outside world from the campground & the house?

F#$KING RIGHT I got in! haha, it's cool inside - great staircase. I found some more pics from the 1800's - uploading as we speak..hang tight. Thanks again for finding this Filper, I took off to see it right away since it's so close to my place. Definitely some kind of slow restoration going on inside..very very slow!
