The School on Wheels or School Car #15089 is only one of seven built for teaching children and adults in really remote rural communities in the 1900's. Fred Sloman ' The Dean of School Car Teachers ' travelled Ontario's north from 1926 to 1965. The train would stay for 5 days or so and showed movies and taught adults in the evening and weekends. More then 1000 children graduated here including the Slomans five kids, one of which lives down the road. This train was suppose to be part of the railway museum in Quebec after the 1967 Expo but was vandalized and then misplaced until found in Toronto in 1982, refurbished and brought here. Open in May.

It's VERY popular for photo's as well, I cant count the number of weddings etc I have neen there for. After visiting alot of people head uptown to see the Radar, that was MOVED to clinton after it was decomissioned, the "golf ball" building in Vanastra where it actually was (Clinton claims to be "Home of the Radar" although it is now it wasnt always lol )
Great piece of history, I never knew anything about this train. Seems like a good reason to learn more.
