Tremaine Road Farm House

Abandoned farm house on Tremaine North of Lower Base Line on the West side.

Update, this location is one of three abandoned places in a row on Tremaine Road, there is a barn on the property that is used by someone, also the fields are still used and the driveway is used to access the fields. The house is abandoned and very nice inside with the beginnings of decay and paint peeling.

First let me say Tremaine Road is much busier than it used to be, just wait until they build a ramp at the 401.

Ever get one of those days when your 6th sense is acting up? I was getting this weird vibe all day, but rather than just sitting around I felt I should go out & do something. Yesterday, I scouted out a few locations. This one had watch cows on duty, so I decided to skip it, with the intention of returning today.

So today was the day. Despite my 6th sense tingling, I'm off to explore. No problems, everything going fine, then with only about 2 or 3 shots left to take outside & I hear a tractor rumbling down the road. I look over my shoulder & there it is, it seems to accelerate down the road as it's carrying a few bales of hay & has a line up of cars behind it. Although I could not see the driver, I felt as I could feel the glare. So what if he catches me, I'm just taking pictures, I love this property, I honour these homes, I'll wish him happy Valentine's day, I'll give him a card, I'll even hug him if he lets me.

I noticed with the picture I just took, that a side wooden door was still open (not by me). So, the sweetheart that I am I decided to close it. Ooop, there's another picture I can take. As I mosey off the property with another final 1 picture, no make that 2 more. I'm the only pedestrian around & I walk down the road a little to my car. Just then, at my 12 O'clock, about a 1/4 km down the road (probably #5116 Tremaine), I see the tractor pulling back onto the road & heading straight towards me. I want to go south, but that crazy farmer could cut me off. I could make a u-turn, nope 2 cars & a truck coming, he's now about 150 m away. There's my chance, forget the Valentine's day hug, I make a u-turn & hit the road northbound. I see he's slowing down & other cars now pass him.

Being the inquisitive types we are, you know I have to go back, so there's another U-turn & I drive back towards the property. There he is, parked beside the house, up on the snow covered drive-way right around where I was when he initially drove by me.

So, I decided, I wouldn't bother checking out those other 2 properties today & I may not go back to Tremaine for some time. I do generally enjoy the adrenalin rush of investigating what's forbidden, but at the same time, I'm kind of looking forward to investigate some far off abandoned property, that doesn't require stealth & doesn't have an operating barn & watch cows 20 m away.
