Location # 3400

Two houses at the same location. One is a Queen Anne from 1905, and the other is a ranch style, probably from the 70's. Both are boarded up. The Queen Anne is probably going to be retained...but who knows.

From chri5tin3:

This is a beautiful old house located at the corner of Derry Rd and Trafalgar Rd in Milton, Ontario.

The land was purchased in the late 1800's and the house was built in 1905 by William Leslie Cotter. Cotter was born in Burlington, Ontario on November 11, 1897. He lived in Trafalgar Township at the corner of what is now Derry Rd and Trafalgar Rd. In 1916 Cotter signed attestation papers for the Queens Ambulance Field Corps. While living at his home he was a lather. Cotter lived in the house until he passed away in 1928. His children then took over the house and raised their family in it. In 1956 the house was again passed down the family line to the children. The (Cotter) Family lived in the house for 100 Years before selling it and the property it is on to Esso (Imperial Oil) in 2009. The land behind it is also owned by Greenpark Homes and I can only assume that there will be another sub-division here in no time. Currently there is no applications for the property which is not on the Town designated list of heritage properties.

If I come across any more info or history I will be sure to share.

Please if visiting this property please be kind and leave it the way you found it. Do not cause any damage to something that isn't yours so others can also enjoy it :)

April 2018. Barn is gone and the house is boarded up tightly. Still very photogenic though.

The ranch one that was demolished about 3 years ago was on Trafalgar, just south of this house by about 100 metres.

Oh, really? I'm thinking about a different house then. It was on the property beside down Derry Rd, all boarded up about two months ago and torn down a couple of weeks ago.

Yea, the "ranch house" has been gone for quite some time, probably 3 years ago. Wasn't much to look at, I was never in it though.

Oh, and the house that was behind it (I think it's referred to in the original description of this location as the ranch style home?) is gone now.

Barn looks like it either collapsed or was half torn down, wasn't like that last week.

Property owner is a speculator who applied for a demolition permit and was denied by Heritage Milton. He wanted to have a clear lot to flip to one of the oil companies for a gas station.

i was past this place on Monday and it's still there, but the house beside it has been torn down. Because they took such effort to secure it, I think it's probably designated as heritage. My guess is that it will be preserved and used in a future commercial development.
