There is a risk of animal encounters here. Primarily bears. (The beavers probably won't attack. Probably.)
There are drill casings sticking out of the ground in some locations that could present a hazard to vehicles.
The first shafts were sunk in 1917, and more were sunk into the 20s, until they were abandoned. Subsequently more underground work was done in the 40s. The property changed hands and was once dewatered and more underground work done in the 80s. The workings appear to have lain dormant since.
The Argyll can be accessed by a road heading north off of Nickle Rd, to the east of Matheson ON.
The road will lead directly to the site. First the shack will come into view on the right (west) side of the road, then on the right (east) side the pit and waste piles will appear. There is a road all the way around the pit, however the north and east ends didn't seem to have anything of particular interest to see.
On the western edge the quonset and concrete foundations can be found spread through the overgrown forested area. This may be where the original shafts were sunk.
