Hazards of Deadman's Corner (Salem Pioneer Cemetery)

No hazards of note, gates always open, nobody cares that you are there. Just enter and walk around with respect to the deceased as always.

History of Deadman's Corner (Salem Pioneer Cemetery)

One of the earliest families to settle in this area were the Bridgman’s who arrived in 1813. The land for a church and cemetery was donated by the Bridgeman family. The Salem New Connexion Methodist Church, established in 1847, was the church attended by most of the Zimmerman area residents. The church closed in 1890, with members moving to the new Zimmerman Methodist Church on Appleby Line and Sideroad 2. However, the congregation continued to use the Salem church cemetery. The old church building was sold in 1905 to the residents of Kilbride for use as their community hall. This church is no longer at the location of the cemetery and has since been moved.

Was on the way to another location and noticed this wasn’t on the site, so I have decided to put it on. Nothing real crazy just a generic pioneer cemetery with overgrown and breaking gravestones. Seems to be used mostly by local families to bury their dead. You can see examples of this in the album.
