I randomly stumbled upon this building a few years ago and could not get inside.... it really didn't look all that special so I was not in a rush to go back and check it. Last summer, RiddimRyder Photography and I were on another one of our weekend long adventures and decided to stop and check it since we were driving by anyways... and sure enough - it was open!
We walked in to see chairs stacked and the roof coming down pretty significantly. This did not have our hopes high. After another 20ft wwe stepped into a bar/pub with everything still there! There was a wall of hand sketched portraits... I'm guessing these were the faces of former patrons or staff. The floor was a thick concrete that was cracked and sinking in parts which was a bit uneasy to walk on...really.. the whole place was very unsafe. But there was no basement in this area thankfully and we used extreme caution with every step. It seemed as if they hosted a garage sale of some sort after closing... and so the middle of the pub was stacked with random trinkets and knick knacks which was a bit of a mess. There was a pool table in the back corner... an ashtray still sitting with butts in it nearby. Behind the bar there were still old joke signs, dirty dishes and bottles.
Moving on, there were some back office areas, storage, a dining room, and kitchen. The kitchen area was still fully stocked with all the equipment and dishes and utensils, even menus. The floor was caving in this area and the fridge had fallen right down through it... so I didn't explore this area too deeply. The front lobby was shedding years and years of paint over signs.
Upstairs was pretty awesome as well. It was a hotel area. Some rooms were empty and some were still fully furnished. Some areas in pretty good condition and others were extremely decayed. This place was like a gift that just kept on giving! I remember RiddimRyder Photography and I were so excited here because it was such a unique find for Ontario and quite the time capsule with all the right stuff that we absolutely love!
This was definitely one of my favourite explores last year... unfortunately I don't think it will be safe to explore anymore and I'm sure it will be caving in any day now... if it hasn't already! Truly a gem! I'm just grateful I had the chance to see it before it's too late!
