Closed in March 2010, Thamesville FoodLand was the only grocery store in the small town for a long time and its recent demolition has forever changed the landscape of the downtown core. My attempts at finding an actual date of construction have come up with nothing but i do know it was originally a restaurant called The Owl and it had an attached bowling alley in the rear half. That apparently only lasted a little while than it was converted to the grocery store the town came to know. The Weaver family owned the store for most its life span being known by a few names over the years such as The Red And White, Weavers Valu-Mart and Thamesville FoodLand. Unfortunately the local economy couldn't support the business and it was forced to close it doors. I had my chance to visit here as a teen while partying nearby to stop in and by some cold mix, not again however until the demolition had begun. I maxed my photos for this one with a tour of both the grocery store and the upstairs apartment. I've included a quick timeline of photos from the past of it while in use(photo from the Weaver family), vacant(Google image from 2013) then after demo started. This location was torn down in the days following my visit and currently a new Tim Hortons sits in its place.
