The Caesar family of settlers moved to this area in 1836, hence to name Caesarea for the local community. They along with many of their early pioneering friends are calmly resting in this forgotten cemetery, although there are some who claim it to be haunted, so perhaps, even after all these years, they are not resting in peace. Perhaps they are upset with the condition of the graves and the markers. Overgrown and tumbling over would be a good way to describe the gravestones found here. Some are in good shape, others are difficult to find in the underbrush. Park along the west side of Highway 7A and hike up the trail into the quiet peace of the past. Bring bug spray.
Names of those families buried here are: Grexton, Latanville, Watson, Vincen, Fraver, Taylor, Atkins, Wesley, and of course Caesar. There are many stones where the names could not be deciphered, and no public record seems to exist to list the names of who may be buried here. Tread carefully, watch for ghosts, leave in good spirits.
