So I went out for a day of exploring and when I got to the first location I realize that I totally forgot to bring my camera. This was a first for me, so I head back home which was an hour away to grab it. KnightHawk was along for the ride and we decide to change things up now and head along the back roads. Two houses close together caught our eye so we turned around to investigate. This is one of them and my trusty exploring friend will post the other.

From the outside this just looks like a modest family bungalow but the inside tells a different story. The unique feature of this house is that it’s protected by an industrial fire system called FireShield Plus. It’s something you would find in a school perhaps with the red pull fire alarms, exit signs, backup power lights and automatic closing steel doors. I would never in a million years think I would see this set up in a home.

The last date I saw was 2016 and judging from the Christmas decorations, this was possibly vacated just last December. There were large cans of food in the pantry, a lot of books throughout and a list of thirteen female names on a laundry schedule. Many other items were left behind as well and I found a stack of handmade drawings in a closet which were neat.

An online obituary for a woman named Larissa Cholodny indicates she passed away April 11, 2016 and condolences mention women who stayed in her home. Larissa operated the Cholodny Home for Special Care. (Thanks to OAP for this info)

Out back was also a small house and it was quite the task to get to it as it was surrounded by chest high grass and weeds but I did it for the team. It was in very rough shape inside so I didn’t spend too much time there. Air quality and unsafe flooring is a concern so you can easily skip it.

We took our time here and didn’t get bothered but there is a neighbour directly across the street to deal with.
