Found in the Flinton Conservation Area, are the remains of a dam and powerhouse that once provided early hydro-electric power to the community and to the nearby mines.
Built in the early 1900's, the dam on the Skootamatta River at Flinton Falls was built out of concrete. The water was channeled through two spillways where the force was used to turn two turbines, which can still be seen. Much of the structure remains intact and is very photogenic most times of the year. Sadly I cannot find much information regarding the details of this powerhouse. Watch your step as you walk among the ruins and near the river, there are many slippery surfaces and hidden metal pieces in the grass.
