The Christ Church no longer has services but is being used as a museum, Christ Church Community Museum. The graveyard behind the Church had its first burial in1855 and it's last in 1886. Col Samuel Stickland (1804-1867) played an important role in bringing the Church to Lakefield. His stone being one of the biggest in the graveyard to show his importance to the community. Over a decade ago a local historian Mr MacLean began researching the controversy over the location of the remains of Col Samuel Stickland. Stones were moved from a graveyard near by to the Christ Church , it is unclear if the remains were moved to the Church. The four tombstones with the crosses on top are the graves of young children. Catharine Annie Bowker, age 2, died of a scarlet fever. Catherine Esther Bowker, age 2, cause of death teething. Thomas William Bowker, age 7 months, cause of death dysentery. Reginald Maclean Bowker, age 6 months, cause of death teething. 3 of the crosses were broken off and missing until April 2010 when a group from the CCCM found them cleaning out cupboards in the old Church. Records show 108 burials at this location, only 40 known. The CCCM volunteers do the maintenance for this graveyard. .
