Enfield and Potter Cemetery

About 15 minutes northeast of Oshawa, in the Municipality of Clarington (Durham Region), lies the tiny hamlet of Enfield. Though not a ghost town (its population is higher these days), it still has its quaint charm. The church was built in 1877. It had a post office for many years when it was in the northern reaches of Darlington Township. It was built on D. Dyers property which occupied the main downtown section of the hamlet.

Location:
Lot 27, Concession 9 (at Enfield)

Access:
From site #9, continue along the road from Zion Church for about 7 miles, possibly a little more. You will come to the village of Enfield and a crossroads. Turn right at this corner and proceed easterly through the community. The cemetery is on your right well back from the road on a hill.

What you will find:
The stones in this cemetery have been erected into a memorial cairn. The church used to sit well to the east of the cairn. This was known as Union Church at Union School Rd. The grounds are no longer well kept, and parking is along the side of the road."
