This large factory was home to R. Reininger & Sons Ltd, a metal stamping plant which provided steel parts to Zerox, GM and other auto manufacturers. Until its closure a year ago, it employed 200 people. I worked there for a few years in the nineties.
The interior of the factory has been mostly cleaned out of all equipment, although several various hazards remain. I tried to explore this place on my own, but due to the danger of trying an industrial setting along, and armed with only a tiny flashlight, I have some poor quality interior shots, just to show that I got inside. There are ample opportunities for anyone wanting to visit and get inside, perhaps a small group would be best.
You can also find a small abandoned sports field, with playground, softball diamonds and a soccer field out in front of the plant, from a time when they hosted local sports teams and provided their own home field.
This is one of the few industrial locations in the area, and it may not be open for exploration for long, visit while you can.
