John Currie was born in this house on December 5, 1875.
Sir Currie was educated in local common schools and at the Strathroy District Collegiate Institute. He also briefly attended the University of Toronto before moving to British Columbia in 1894.
Sir Currie led the 2nd Brigade of the Canadian Expeditionary Forces during key First World War battles at Ypres, Somme, Passchendaele and Vimy.
The house is located on a farmer's field but you can park out of sight. There's not much to see inside except for the stairway and the corner hutch. Local citizens would like to see the house saved and receive historic recognition but the elements have other plans.
If anyone plans to head out this way, give me a shout. I found at least other houses which looked to have great prospect but I was alone and didn't want to park in the driveway.

Nice add. I'm pretty sure it was on here before as I've passed by it based on it being in the db.
I've seen this and a few others in the area but bad timing kept me from stopping. Good addition.

Demolition is currently underway. I hate the way we treat our historic sites here in Ontario. We should all be ashamed that this has happened. Fortunately the images of history live in this database.
