DEMOLISHED - JANUARY 2024: No building remain... the entire property has been leveled.

Never mind, what other more fitting name do you think this could have been called? There was no cushie-little slap on the wrist here; the Ministry of the Environment dropped the hammer fiercely.

Last October (2013) a health inspector observed the owner of Frenchman's Creek Resort and Trailer Park pumping collected raw excrement into a ditch that flows directly into the Niagara River. He was given an official warning that a proper septic collection company would have to be used. On a surprise return 10 days later, the inspector observed no changes had been made and sewage was still being discharged directly onto the ground. The resort was immediately ordered closed and electricity was cut, a move that displaced 15 people who were living on the site in cabins, a two-storey motel and several RVs. The Fort Erie Salvation Army assisted tenants with finding affordable housing.

Two days ago (July 29, 2014), The Ministry of the Environment walloped the owner with a $60,000 fine and declared the site unfit for reopening unless a fully inspected sewer system is installed. Given the size of the fine and the nature of the pay-by-month tenants that were living here, this is unlikely to happen. The site will probably continue to decay for years, making this another potential Niagara hotspot for exploring.

FUTURE EXPLORATION STATUS: The 2-storey hotel was not accessed. At least one cabin was accessed by Phrenzee on a later visit but most still have unseen interiors, leaving plenty to be discovered here. The tenants here were already living in squalid conditions with years of decay previously under way. Newly weathered POEs are already in the making.

Mobileworks, I just noticed on the Google map (if you zoom in a little) that there is a cemetery waiting for you on the property. Damn! And I came in from that direction too. Must have walked by it in the long grass.
