Demolished Motel/Hotel in Port Hope, Ontario

Took a trip in the late fall to the inn with a friend. There really wasn’t a whole lot left to see, of the place. Most of the open suites were littered with trash, furniture and rot.

Despite it being a rather lack-luster exploration, it was rather interesting to know that I was setting foot in a place that my mother and father used to go to dinner as kids, now abandoned.

It was pretty neat to take a peek at the real neon lights, as somebody who’s rather ever seen the real-deal up close, and l really wish I’d snagged a picture of the restaurant inside the lobby- the curved bar counter was perhaps my favourite aspect, too bad the floors were far too-hazardous to step on, at that point.

It’s a shame, as of late November 2021, the place is now an empty lot. Supposedly a fire started on one of the nearby trailers, but was put out by authorities before it could spread to the motel. Next day, the place was completely fenced up. It’s a shame, really.

The neon sign outside!
The neon signing at the front of the building!
The lobby!
The lobby was pretty barren, the arched door led to the motel restaurant!
One of the rooms towards the back of the motel.
I never explored this part. The entire floor was practically littered with rubble and trash.
A suite bathroom!
Just one of the bathrooms inside the suites. Was pretty crammed full of items.
One of the suites!
Ooh! A mysterious chair.
Blocked door, leading to the lobby
This door lead to other suites, and the lobby! It would’ve been a lot easier to explore if this were open.
One of the many corridors.
Most of the corridors were too dark to see without a flashlight. My friend and I joked about how the “demon graffiti” at the end of the hallway, resembled Megamind.
Water damage.
At this point, I was simply taking pictures of the decay itself.
The motel in the distance.
The picture I snapped as we were leaving. If only I’d know then that it would be the last.

Absolutely loved this place when it was around! I've explored here 20+ times and every time there was something new to see. The location was like a big game of ISpy. The upstairs of the photo you said you never explored was a big open concept room with blue metallic wallpaper, a baby blue toilet/bathroom, baby blue carpet, and a balcony overlooking the outside of the suite as well as the inside. So sad to see this place gone. Truly holds such a special place in my heart.
