Lol Mydea, it may become the new "gotta have" for backyard amenities.
Yea, me too, but I noticed a surge of activity in the area in the last little while, so I thought timing looks right. There is still power on at the property, with one light left on in the house. So the local teens haven't accessed the house yet. Whether that is from the developers or the previous owners is anyone's guess.
Just cleaning out some old pictures & thought I would add it to the site. My flash wasn't working correctly inside the house, so no inside shots. Hmmmm, isn't that 3 of us with lighting problems? Interesting, spooky.
I believe that used to be the home of the Peacock family, who were farmers. The date it was built has been smudged, but it looks like 1836 & it was described as a framed 2 1/2 story house. William Peacock also designed & built St. Luke's Church, just west of Bronte on Dundas, in 1845.
I thought that place was used for storage for the golf course as well. Maybe they didn't want people yo know it was empty.
I'm afraid I don't get to that area too often. If I do make it back I'll want to make the exploration of the barn a priority. I did look through the drawers, the big dresser was empty with some clothes strewn on the floor in front. The smaller dresser had, children's books, a big dog collar, some bedding & other odds and ends.
Unbelievable that this place still exists. One of my first memories was seeing Mary Poppins there back on the 60's. I have heard they will be building a courthouse there. The area has been infested with condos & it looks like a prime candidate.
When I read the title I knew what it was going to be. About a week ago I was wondering whether those houses were even still there so I made a drive by to see. Hey still there. I just assumed these homes were probably already listed on this site but not visible to me as I'm still not approved with full membership. Thanks, I was interested to see what the place looks like.
My guess is that this will become a Provincial Park House much like the Spruce Lane Farm House on the other side of the Creek. Heavy landscaping & what looks like a berm being made. Maybe to separate the outside world from the campground & the house?
Arcadian Circle, home of Long Branch Arena. It would have been interesting if the Asylum buildings were restored to their original 'splendor' indoors. ;-) But you are right, Humber College has done a wonderful job & I am so thankful that they are being put to good use rather than having been demolished & made way for Condos or whatever.
Made a quick stop there today. All that remains is the shed, nothing of much interest inside.
