Dinosaur World is a former tourist attraction Park in Beaver, Arkansas, United States. Just as the name suggests, the park which started in 1967 had sculptures of dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals. The park later went down in history as the largest Dinosaur Park globally.

History of the dinosaur world 

“John Agar’s world of Kong” as it was initially known, or just Dinosaur world, was established in 1967. Filled with prehistoric animals and structures such as the biblical Noah's ark, was the largest Dinosaur World on the globe. The park was a brainchild of Ola Farewell who hired Emmet Sullivan to build replicas of the dinosaur. It took Emmet more than four years to complete the park with different types of dinosaurs, cavemen, and the world's largest King Kong. After completion, the park was opened to the general public under the name Farwell's Dinosaur Park. The name was later changed to “John Agar’s world of Kong” (John Agar was the actor who appeared in the 1976 King Kong movie).

The decline of the park 

When the park was first established, the business boomed brought about by the influx of local visitors. Once the park became commonplace to the local visitors, the enthusiasm reduced leading to a low number of people visiting the park. This subsequently took the business to a financial depression which led to its closure in 2011. A fire outbreak destroyed the main buildings of the park. The effects of the fire and the previous decline in tourist traffic at the park finally took it to its knees. Dinosaur World was never reopened. 

What is the current condition of the amusement park?

Today the dinosaur world in Beaver, Arkansas is still abandoned. The gigantic dinosaurs and other prehistoric sculptures are the only things that are standing strong on the whole property. Most of them have been defaced by local graffiti artists but their general conditions are beyond Good. The extensive piece of property is privately owned. It is open to the general public to explore. For years now, the property has not got any investors who are interested in reviving the amusement park. The state government of Arkansas had plans of turning the park into a community park but that later did not come to happen. The state did not have the finances so the little that they had was directed to the preservation and building of replicas. The Park has various concrete sculptures with sharp horns and teeth that can cause injuries to careless visitors or kids. The minor cabins that were not destroyed by the fire are also unstable which is hazardous.
