All filled in now, this raised area is where the hopper cars dumped their loads to fill coaling tower. What looks like an access road is where railway siding used to be.

After being dumped from hopper cars, coal travelled to this conveyor and up to top of tower.

Ah, zut! Maybe not the best looking welds on door but enough to keep one out of the conveyor tower.......

Was able to get camera lens into one of the openings in side of tower for a look at the chain and bucket conveyor which took coal up.

When in service a chute would have been installed here, coal fed by gravity into locomotive tenders.
