Thomas Thompson built the hotel in the Trafalgar Township village of Palermo around 1860. It was a stagecoach stop for travellers between York (Toronto), Milton and Bronte. The location is the northwest corner of Old Bronte Road and Dundas Street West, Halton County, the Town of Oakville.

his view of Palermo is taken looking southwest with Hwy 5 (Dundas Street) horizontal. Old Bronte Road is visible going south. It was taken sometime in the 1950's. The village of Palermo was situated on the 2nd line, 3 miles from Bronte Station on the Great Western Railway and 8 miles from Milton.
