1. G.E.C.O.

The G.E.C.O. complex was built in 1940 and 1941 during world war 2. With over 170 buildings and over 5 kilometers of tunnels, "General Engineering Company of Ontario" {G.E.C.O.} assembled and filled munitions such as fuses, primers, tubes, gaines, tracers, igniters and chemical explosives. At their peak production they had over 5,300 employees working here. The tunnels were built with concrete {7ft high and 10ft wide} to protect the G.E.C.O. employees from weather and possible air raids and explosions. The last few remaining buildings have been recently demolished, the tunnels filled in with debris from the demo(a)s, and new buildings are being built over top the old tunnels.

More information can be found in the autobiography book, "Corky, Peggy and the Goldfinch".

2. Caddy's Strip Club

Closed in December 2017 and owned by the same owners of the bowling alley next door, Reviewed very poorly most likely leading to its closure.

Power is off but there are several areas to enjoy. There's the strip club, band stage next door and hotel attachment. There are also several rooms in the basement. Wear water-proof footing.

3. Guild Inn

The Guild Inn in Scarborough was build as a private estate about 1914. It was bought by Rosa Hewetson in 1932. She and her husband Spencer Clark turned it into a haven for artists. During World War II it was a military hospital.

During the 1960(a)s Clark collected many stone facades from buildings being demolished in downtown Toronto and created a unique architectural collection on the grounds.

The Clarks sold the home to Metro Toronto. A 6 storey 100 room east wing was added in the 1960(a)s. The hotel and restaurant were closed in 2001. It(a)s a pity. The restaurant was very nice and it is a great location for a resort type hotel yet readily accessible to downtown via the Guildwood GO station.
