The history of this site is best offered via the PDF attachment in the links section. These pics are mostly from 2008 with a couple from 2009. Restoration of the site was begun that year and access was cut off for 2010 due to the construction. There was concern for public safety due to decay and structural engineers gave an assessment which led to the restoration, which cost nearly a million dollars. I visited a couple of times in 2010 but could not access and have not been there in 2011. From what I(a)ve seen via more recent pics, it doesn(a)t look like much was changed visually with the site. It(a)s often used for weddings and other functions, so it(a)s hit or miss as to whether or not you are going to be able to get some nice pics or be denied by a crowd. The conservation area is worth the visit regardless, with some fabulous geological formations to explore (including glacial potholes).

When I went, there were lots of tourists milling around. Was limited in my people-free photo options.

There's some cool caves in this park to the east of these ruins on the other side of the eramosa river..near the other small stone house ruins, and not many people know this but if you crawl thru the small openings at the back of the caves they keep opening up into large rooms. Sorta like in the first 'Rambo' movie.
