Hazards of Transit Petroleum (Storage)

Air Quality - Asbestos is here. Was never abated, and never updated that way.

Gated - With demolition fencing.

Neighbours - A pool installation buisness is next door. Cameras on thier buildings.

Animals & Insects - Yes, possible as it was an open site when I shot this.

History of Transit Petroleum (Storage)

I havent exactly confirmed any of this but this seems to have been a ''Fuel Depot". It is right next to the Iron Horse Trail (former rail line) and there are a few former factories in the area. It looks to be a few truck bays (and a loading bay facing the former rail) and a bit of office space.

Going back, Coal would have been the ''fuel'' and it would have fed factories. It didnt require any special storage and doesnt have anything negative happen to it over time stored outside so if that is the case, this is all this would have required. Would have been sent out from here after it was brought in.

NO IDEA WHEN THIS WAS BUILT. It also looks like it has been vacant or rarley used as pseudo-storage for at least 2 decades.

On the way to another shoot I saw this. I had watched it for at least 2 years and had been interested. I recall when the basement door was missing and I never checked it out though.

SO I am passing by and it was in the worst shape yet. Demolition fenced and almost half of the building had collapsed. I was thinking that it might have been the work of a fire, but when I got close, I found that it collapsed straight into itself. Not very special, but I am shocked that at this stage of advanced decay and disrepair, it still had some windows and just about all the copper in it.

Due to the collapse, I estimate I could only explore about a third to half of this small location. The basement was not accesible and clearly about half the main floor is gone. I almost crawled into the collapse, but decided against it.

I suspect that by the posting of this, it could be gone. The demolition might have been pushed to the week depending when this happened ect. One thing is sure, it wont be here long. The main thing I liked was that it was mainly decay, and not vandlism.
