Top 3 Abandoned Places In Trent Hills

There are so many abandoned places in Trent Hills! This is a list of the top three abandoned places in Trent Hills. Browse through all abandoned places in Trent Hills

1. Dartford Mill

Dartford, located originally in Percy Township (now Trent Hills), is a quaint hamlet tucked on a windy road in a river valley. It is not a ghost town, but I did find the original grist mill(a)s wheel still intact and its mill stone. The mill wheel is actually made of steel. The mill pond is still dammed up and the spring flow was quite fast and high.

The map attached (circa 1878) shows where a sawmill was located on the other side of the river. But another map shows that the photos I took were of a grist mill. So I assume there must have been 2 mills here at one time.

If you like these kinds of villages I suggest taking a quick jog off the County Rd. 45 to see this place.

2. Never came back

Single level unfinished grey brick structure built into the side of a hill. Looks like it was going to have a second storey eventually. The builder started this in the summer of 1994 and never returned. Not very interesting.

Apparently it's fairly well built as it's been untouched for 25 years and was still almost dry inside during my visit, even during a very rainy spring.

3. Ferris Park

Old industrial building, possibly hydro related. Viewed by water, launched kayaks from Ferris Park boat launch and headed upstream towards the dam.

Update: It's been tidied up a bit, and a dock has been added with a pair of lawn chairs and some kayaks. No longer abandoned.
