This house is the second last of seven original houses, build to house farm workers for a nearby dairy farm. Believe it or not, this house had been lived in until only a few months before these photos were taken. There was a small fire and the fire department upon seeing the conditions in the home condemned the building. The roof leaked so badly that there were plastic table cloths on the inside taped to the ceiling to divert the water leaks. Apparently no running water and the only heat was generated but a woodstove in the basement. An older lady lived here with her daughter for many years, refusing to leave the house believing that her deceased father would not be able to find them if they moved. Truly a sad story. The mother passed away within days of being evicted from the home.
This was me and a friend of mines, first time out. We found the first small shack on the way to our location . The second site is a friend of a friends property which we had permission to visit as it is the owner does camp on the site.
The site has quite a few buildings, and you can also see evidence of where other buildings once stood. the large barn was somewhat receintly converted into some kind of bunkhouse, with many beds in every room. The last red building which seems to be the oldest, we were unable to view even the windows are boarded.
This location has the appearances of a year-round lived in home. There are magazines, furniture, weight press and even food left inside but no sign that anyone has been here for quite some time.
The barn actually has electricity which leads me to believe that this could be a seasonal home. The large number of alcohol bottles seems to suggest this is the case.
