(Greb Ind) Kodiak Shoe Factory

Greb Industries was incorporated in Kitchener in 1916, opening several plants across the city. As the business expanded Greb acquired other companies including Valentine & Martin and Canada West - including their Kodiak Shoe brand. in 1959 This factory was built to manufacture Greb's first Kodiak branded line which included boots for work, hunting and sports. Greb Industries became insolvent in the 1990's and the factory was shuttered in 1991. In 2013 the property was demolished, in 2020 plans for a massive skyrise project were approved for part of the site.
