Hazards of Quinta Conde de Sucena

as of my revisit to this place i can no give a more in depth write up on the hazards. First off this place is like traversing through a field of pure barbwire with how much spiky plants there are (literally the whole entire field is just this plant) secondly due to the fact that is such on old building and it has been abandoned way before my mom was growing up in the house near it in the 1980's the floors are obviously prone to collapsing, and lastly during the summer months there are snakes according to a person who was kinda enough to tell us the dangers of this place luckily they're gone during the winter but if you are planning to explore in the summer be careful

History of Quinta Conde de Sucena

this site was built by the 1st count of Sucena. it is situated near the central square of a small town in portugal. the count, José Rodrigues de Sucena was born in 1850. he grew up in modest surroundings in a modest family of farmers. At the young age of 17 he moved to brazil to become a businessman. He became a rich man selling clothes and religious items.

The count married Dona Rufina Gomersor, a distinguished lady, niece of the president of Uruguay. They were friends with king Carlos I of Portugal, together they frequently visited estates and palaces in the country. especially the romantic settings of sintra, that influenced the construction of this masterpiece. He dedicated about a third of his farm to the implantation of idyllic garden, complete with beautiful artificial caves. The count died in 1925 leaving the castle to his son

while making this i only have one picture of this place from when I went in 2022 but i’m most likely going to go back to Portugal soon and if i’m near I will try and get into this beautiful place and take pictures. This place includes a house, garden with beautiful tiles painted in Portuguese fashion (azulejos), and castle walls
