Behnke off Hwy 63 ( Trout Lake Road)
Noodles25 • 17 hours ago
There is apparently an abandoned town called/in Behnke, Ontario. If travelling along Hwy 63 (Trout Lake Road) heading towards Quebec from North Bay, just pass Hwy 533, there is a green sign that says Behnke 26(?) khms The story goes that this use to be a booming town but some “tragic“ event occurred and the entire town moved away. The road into Behnke looks like a cow path but we are going to head in there next Sunday with our ATVs. Does anyone know anything about Behnke, the history etc?

What's in your gear bag?
Face_Tinnitus • 4 weeks ago
So ya, what's in your gear bag, or stuff that you always take with you? I try to keep my bag sort of set up for different areas. An example would be Bear Spray, if the location is remote and includes a hike, I'll bring the spray and leave the tripod behind. If the location is more urban then the spray stays home and the tripod comes out. Just looking for ideas and if I 'am missing something important Cheers
Requesting for Level 2
Geodes • 6 days ago
I believe I've gained enough experience and have contributed enough content that it would make sense for me to be promoted to level 2. Though I'm barely over the minimum requirements, I hope that my albums indicate that I have passion, a willingness to explore and find new locations, and most importantly, a willingness to improve. It's fairly obvious that I'm not experienced in photography, but I think it's clear that my albums have greatly improved in quality as I've explored and experienced more (like my Atlas Auto Shop and Shef's grill albums). The one aspect in which I believe I'm a little behind (in terms of promotion) is added locations: I've added 3 of them, (but also found Minor Niner) and I hope this is enough to indicate that not only am I able to explore without visiting well-known locations, but that I'll be able to add to the database as I explore and discover. There is also a lot to improve about the quality of my posts, as well as my skills as an explorer, and if there are any concerns or advice that I need to take into account, please share it with me (especially if I'm not yet ready for level 2).
Good evening, I am applying to the voting masses for a chance to move up to Level Two, with the hope that it well open up more locations in Nova Scotia and Atlantic Canada. I have been exploring steadily for the last four months, did slow down for bit because of a tick bite, which was probably karma for pushing in a door a bit more forcibly then I should have. The house was totally worth it, but a complete mess, and probably going to collapse in on itself in the next couple of years. Thanks for your time and consideration.

Hello everyone. I have been a member of the community for a while now and have always loved exploring abandoned places. I would like to move on up to level 2 as I would like to access better locations that have more to offer. I recently purchased a drone so I will be able to take very high quality photos and or videos of these locations. I have never vandalized or destroyed any locations that I have been to weather from this site or on my own finding. While I may not have contributed much to the site so far I only had access to a very low quality camera at the time, and I would like to provide much more from now on. Thank you for reading this and I hope to be promoted to level 2 soon, Heavygunnertty.

Hello, I am applying for level 2. I have met all of the requirements for level 2, as I have 9 locations, 10 albums, and I have been on the site for more than three months. I have contributed relatively consistently since May of this year. What allured me to urbex lies not only in the exploration of abandoned sites but also in the preservation of their stories. As an someone who explores those places, I want to capture the essence of each location through photos, history, and documentation. Through those mediums, I'm happy to share Alberta's (and other places I happen to travel's) forgotten places. Speaking of mediums, in terms of my photography, I strive for each of my photos to be quality, but when I'm able to, to have a decent quantity of pictures as well. But, urbex isn't just about aesthetics, it's about acknowledging the layers of history that define Canada's (and in my case, Alberta's) landscapes, which is why I choose to add details of each location's history to each post. This is my favourite hobby, I travel to ghost towns and abandoned buildings as much as being located in Alberta + being a student allows. Please let me know what you think!

RE: "I have to say the Adding Locations requirement is a little ridiculous because it will be very hard to find locations that no one else has" -- definitely not true, and that sentiment has usually been a sign in the past of users not really invested in the hobby. There are abandoned locations everywhere and new ones pop up constantly in every locality. This is going to sound like a sarcastic comment, but it isn't in any way. Another easy suggestion is to consider known historic spots in your area. Chances are many of those are not listed in the database because people have just never thought to put them in. But there's certainly nothing wrong with photographing and sticking them in the database at Level 1 for others to enjoy.
though the minimum requirements are not 100% strict requirements, but they are very strong criteria. you could have 2 locations but 20 albums, i would vote yes for that
there are many locations that haven't been uploaded, and many properties are actively becoming urbex. i like to keep an eye out for bandos whenever i'm in a bus or car and i find a decent bit. though the most efficient way i would say is scouting google maps satellite view for clues
I have to say the Adding Locations requirement is a little ridiculous because it will be very hard to find locations that no one else has
I meant to downvote, oops
